Transfer Credits  

A minimum of 50% of your program must be completed at Corpus Christi College to obtain a degree from this institution. If you have completed university-level courses while in high school (AP/IB courses), or you have transfer credits from another institution that you will be using for your degree, please ensure you have submitted a Transfer Credit Request form. Transfer credit cannot be officially approved until the College evaluates your official transcript.

HOW DO I SUBMIT A TRANSFER CREDIT REQUEST?

1. Download and complete the Transfer Credit Request form online.
2. You must submit Transfer Credit Request form and the official transcripts to the Office of the Registrar at [email protected].
3. You will receive a confirmation once your request has been approved.

What documents do I need to provide prior to studying in Canada?

You will need to provide:
    i) a valid passport to apply for a study permit,
    ii) admission letter from Corpus Christi College,
    iii) proof of funds adequate to support you in Canada,
    iv) a valid study permit, and
    v) a temporary resident visas (TRV) and electronic travel authorization (ETA).

All international students in programs longer than 6 months need a valid study permit. Applications for a study permit can take up to 3 months, so apply as soon as possible. You are responsible for ensuring your study permit is valid at all times. Review study permit processing times and required documents for your study permit application. In addition, only citizens of certain countries require a TRV, also known as an entry visa. Check the IRCC website to see if you need a valid TRV to travel to Canada. If you are from a TRV-exempt country, you may need to apply for an eTA before you can travel to Canada.

I am a new student. Can I apply for my study permit now? 

Yes. As soon as you are admitted to Corpus Christi College, you should apply online for an initial study permit so that you are in the queue for processing. After you apply, you may be asked to submit biometrics (photo and fingerprints), complete a medical exam, or provide other documents which may not be possible to do right now, but we are confident that Immigration will account for these delays and will process study permits as quickly as possible. The current travel restrictions will not prevent your study permit application from being processed.

I am a new student and my study application is still in process. What should I do? 

IRCC continues to process applications submitted online, even if the Visa Application Centre in your country may be closed. On July 14, 2020, IRCC announced temporary policy changes to facilitate online learning for international students.

Check with your local Visa Application Centre for details on your application and make sure to keep up to date on COVID-19 updates in your country and in Canada. A study permit is not required to take online courses from abroad. Students can count the time spent pursuing their studies online abroad toward their eligibility for a post-graduation work permit, if they submit a study permit before the program starts. Are there scholarships that I can apply for as an international student?    

Currently we don’t have scholarships for international students.

What are the housing options as an international student? 

As an international student at Corpus Christi College, you can either stay at the Carey Centre or at St. Andrew’s Hall, located just steps away from the College. The cost to live at the Carey Centre is $12,950 plus a $300 refundable damage deposit. The cost to live at St. Andrew’s Hall varies. For a co-ed quad, it is $936/month; for a studio, it is $1,282/month; for a one-bedroom, it is $1,449/month; for a two-bedroom, it is $2,229/month, and for a townhouse (2 bedroom + den), it is $2,048/month.

2020–2021 Funding Priority: Technology Upgrades

High quality teaching and learning must be supported by the latest education technology. Technology upgrades will enhance learning environments for students on campus and expand our ability to offer courses outside of the lower mainland.

Over the past three years, the cost of keeping our classrooms running has increased significantly due to aging technology, equipment and the need to provide more technical supports to faculty and students. We are currently undergoing a significant construction project to renew our aging campus by enhancing spaces for our students to ensure better classroom and student life experiences. As a result of these renovations a new long-term technology plan has been developed which will be integrated into electrical upgrades and renovations of classrooms.

The rebuilt classrooms will be modernized with fixed seating and desks with built-in plugs for electronics. Creston technology systems would be added to control all aspects of the classroom environment from screens and IT, to lighting and equipment to provide long-distance education opportunities.

Learning spaces are no longer limited to the four walls of a classroom

A multitude of tools are available for distance learners to experience class, collaborate, and share information in real-time, without regard for geographical distance. Cutting-edge, dynamic technologies facilitate videoconferencing with high-quality audio and video, lecture recording, streaming video, and remote presentation from any of the connected laptops or mobile devices.

Where to Begin

• Assisting Students in Distress

   
  
  Recognize signs of distress
  You may be the first person to see signs that a student is in distress or they may come to you specifically for help. Use this folder to familiarize yourself with common signs of distress, from mild to severe, and the steps you can take to offer assistance.
  
  Reach out and refer
  Your role is not to diagnose or treat students, but you are in a position to make them aware of the help available. Early intervention plays a key role in helping students get back on track.

What is a T2202?

Qualifying students can claim a tuition tax credit to offset part of the expense of college. The T2202 is a tuition tax receipt that shows the amount of tuition you paid for your courses in the previous calendar year. Please contact [email protected] for a copy of your tax form.

What is a T4A slip? 

A T4A slip is a supporting document used to report the scholarship or bursary income you received while you were enrolled at an educational institution. Only students who have received institutional scholarships or bursaries will be issued T4 slips from the Colleges.

Confirmation of Enrolment

A Confirmation of Enrolment letter is an official document that verifies your enrolment at our College. If you are asked to verify your enrolment at our College for the purpose of employment, immigration, outside scholarships, etc., you can request a Confirmation of Enrolment Letter through your My LION account. 

Confirmation of Enrolment FAQ

I’m new to Corpus this semester. How can I request a Confirmation of Enrolment Letter, and when will I receive it?

To receive the Confirmation of Enrolment letter, you must place an order and make a payment in your My LION account under “Confirmation of Enrolment.” The letter will be issued to you after the registration add/drop deadline of the term in which you are currently enrolled.  I have been admitted for the upcoming academic term. Am I eligible to receive a Confirmation of Enrolment letter?

You will be eligible to receive the Confirmation of Enrolment Letter after you begin classes. The letter will be issued and sent to you after the registration Add/Drop deadline during the first term of your enrolment. For a list of all deadlines, see the Academic and Activities Calendar.

I am an international student. My study permit expires before the Add/Drop deadline, and I need the Confirmation of Enrolment letter to extend my study permit. Can I receive the letter now, even though I haven’t yet started classes?

Don’t worry! We are here to help you. If you need to receive your Confirmation of Enrolment Letter for immigration purposes, please pay your outstanding tuition and fees for the upcoming term and then contact [email protected] for assistance. 

I used to be a student at Corpus Christi College. I now study at another institution. Is the Confirmation of Enrolment Letter the best way to prove my academic history?

Not necessarily. For a full record of your academic history at our College, please order a transcript instead.

Dear Donor,

I am the fortunate recipient of the Archbishop’s Award and I wanted to thank you for funding this scholarship. When deciding what school to go to, I was torn over which one to choose. The scholarship is what pushed me to choose Corpus Christi, and I haven’t looked back.    

I have grown to love the College community, and in the past year I have grown both academically and spiritually.  Through the College’s Leadership Program, I was able to volunteer with various outreach programs to help the less fortunate, as well as start a program to tutor young refugees to improve their English and Math skills. Thanks to the scholarship, I have been able to work less and devote more time to volunteering.

English Bridge Program for EAL Students

Become a Successful University Student in Canada

Corpus Christi College's English Bridge Program is designed to help English as an Additional Language (EAL) students become successful university students.

Our Bridge Program helps you improve your English proficiency so you’re ready for the next step in your post-secondary studies.

What is Involved?

The Bridge Program is an intensive 12-week program (144 hours) that equips students with the necessary language and academic skills they need for university level courses.

How the Program Works

The Program integrates four academic language skills:
1.    Listening
2.    Reading
3.    Speaking
4.    Writing

These skills are integrated by helping students develop their Receptive Skills (such as Listening and Reading) in one course while practicing their Productive Skills (such as Speaking and Writing) in another.

Students will also apply their skills to engage in critical thinking, academic research, presentations, and discussions.

Do you have a good academic record and an intermediate-level skill in English from your high school years?

Are you pursuing a post-secondary degree (Associate, Bachelor’s) but struggling to enter into first-year university programs or English courses because of a lower-than-expected IELTs score?

Course Details

Program instructors use a communicative approach with their students to help them build the Academic Language Skills necessary for successful post-secondary academic research, critical thinking, essay writing, and presentations.

Students will progress through a combined series of Listening-Reading and Speaking-Writing Courses:

Bridge Program: Listening and Reading
Students study and practice academic listening and reading skills, including noting and comparing key ideas, discerning and critiquing thesis statements, making outlines, paraphrasing sentences, summarizing paragraphs, and analyzing essays.

Bridge Program: Speaking and Writing
Students study and practice academic speaking and writing skills, including brainstorming key ideas, formulating and writing thesis statements, outlining and structuring paragraphs, drafting essays, producing and revising drafts, and presenting content.

Students will also apply their skills to engage in critical thinking, academic research, presentations, and discussions.

ELIGIBILITY AND ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

The Bridge Program is designed for high-intermediate (e.g., IELTs 5.0) English as an Additional Language (EAL) students.
Applicants must:
•    have completed a high school diploma (in their home country, Canada or abroad)
•    meet the non-English admission requirements to Corpus Christi College
•    achieve a score of at least “Level 1” on the Corpus Christi College Bridge Program Placement Test
•    complete a telephone or in-person interview.
No other English proficiency tests such as TOEFL or TOEIC are required to enter this program. 

COURSE COSTS

Course tuition is the same for international and domestic students.
Bridge Program: $3000.00

Courses start at the beginning and the second half of each semester.
The Bridge Program runs year round, with new intakes at the beginning of each semester, including Fall (September), Winter (January), and Summer I (May).

How much time is spent in class?
Students will be in class two times per week with additional time allocated for online learning.

Is admission to the English Bridge Program the same as admission to Corpus Christi College?
Students who are admitted to the English Bridge Program receive conditional acceptance to Corpus Christi College. If students do not complete the Bridge Program and English requirements, they will not be fully admitted to the College.

How big are the classes?
IES classes are small, so students receive personalized instruction. The average class size is between 15 to 30.

International Peer Mentorship Program

The International Peer Mentorship program at Corpus Christi College is a peer-mentorship initiative to support new international students, connect Canadian and international students, and give returning students a leadership opportunity.

New international students (mentees) are paired with returning domestic student (mentors) to support and learn from each other. Working in tandem with Academic Advising and the Student Life office, peer mentors will be a source of support for meeting new people, building networks and experiencing Canadian culture.

Peer mentors are a valuable resource in providing a student’s perspective of post-secondary life and they look forward to sharing their knowledge, experiences, challenges and insights with you.

Your peer mentor may be your partner when we organize social activities such as watching the Vancouver White Caps soccer games, celebrating at the Fall Thanksgiving BBQ, cheering for the UBC Thunderbirds football team and many more opportunities.

Corpus students have the opportunity to live at St. Andrew’s Hall or Carey Centre, but they need to apply early. The residences feature modern, clean facilities, a safe environment, and furnished rooms with laundry facilities.

Our international tuition is affordable in comparison to universities such as the University of British Columbia (UBC) and Simon Fraser University (SFU). By taking your first and second year at Corpus and then transferring into third year at a top Canadian university, you can save money.

For example, 30 credits of first year Arts programming at UBC will cost you approximately $34,900 while it will cost you $24,900 at Corpus.

In Business, two years at UBC will cost you approximately $76,900 while at Corpus it will cost you $57,400.

Study Permit and Immigration Documents

All international students are required by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to have a valid study permit. A study permit is a Canadian Immigration document that is issued to allow you to study in Canada for a specified amount of time. The Canadian government provides many resources for international students to help with their applications.

Always refer to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for the most accurate and up-to-date information.

As an international student, you need the following documents prior to studying in Canada:

Passport

You need a valid passport to apply for study permit.

Admission letter from Corpus Christi College

The admission letter will be issued once you are accepted into the College. This letter is needed for you to apply for a study permit

Proof of funds adequate to support you in Canada;

You will need to provide proof of funds to be able to study and support yourself in Canada.

Study permit

All international students in programs longer than 6 months need a valid study permit.

Applications for a study permit can take up to 3 months, so apply as soon as possible. You are responsible for ensuring your study permit is valid at all times.

Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) and Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA)

Only citizens of certain countries require a TRV or also known as an entry visa. Check the IRCC website to see if you need a valid TRV to travel to Canada.

If you are from a TRV-exempt country, you may need to apply for an eTA before you can travel to Canada.

Post-secondary Transfer students (students who have attended a minimum of one term at another post-secondary institution) - Must submit post-secondary transcripts and, if you have completed less than 24 credits at a post-secondary institution, must submit high school transcripts.

Corpus Christi welcomes applications from qualified international students of all cultural, religious and linguistic backgrounds.

International students graduating from a Canadian high school must satisfy the following requirements
1. Graduation from a provincial high school with a minimum grade average of 67% (based on English Studies 12 and three additional approved courses).
2. Completion of English Studies 12 or English First Peoples 12 with a minimum grade of 67% or fulfil the English Language Admission Standard.

1. Proof of completion of a Secondary School Diploma in recognized institution or authority.

1 

What is university transfer and how does it work? 

Most Bachelor Degree programs offered at universities require 120 credits. Up to 60 of those credits (generally first and second year courses) can be taken at another post-secondary institution. Corpus Christi College offers transfer eligible courses that enable students to take up to 60 credits that can transfer to the Bachelor’s Degree program of their choice at another university. It is important to note that not only do you have to have the correct number of course credits, you must also attain a certain GPA to enter the university of your choice.  

Please ensure you know the application deadlines, GPA, and credit/program/graduation requirements for the university of your choice. You can usually discover these on their respective websites. If you would like further clarity, please book an appointment with an academic advisor.

How many course credits must I have in order to qualify for transfer? 

Students need at least 24 transferrable credits in order to transfer in to university. Typically, a student transferring in to 2nd year university has 24-30 credits. If a student has at least 24 credits, then they their admittance will only be based on their college academics. If a student has less than 24 credits, then their applications will be grouped in with high school applications.  

It is important to keep in mind that you are only allowed a maximum of 60 transferrable credits to your university of choice as universities require students to complete at least half of their degree at the university.

How do I know which courses are transferable to my desired university? 

It is paramount to ensure that that the courses you are taking are transferrable to your desired university. The best and easiest way to do this is to visit BC Transfer Guide. By using the tools on this website, you are able to search if the course you are taking here at Corpus Christi will transfer to your desired university.

What if I want to transfer my courses to universities outside of BC/Canada/North America?

If you are interested in transferring to a University out of the province or country, then the best way to see if your courses will transfer is to contact the admissions department at your desired university. This is done at a course by course basis, and they will most likely ask for course syllabi to determine transfer eligibility.

Which courses should I take? 

That is entirely up to you! We encourage you to explore your interests when deciding which courses to take. If you’re still in the process of discovering your passions, then it’s a good idea to try a variety of different courses. If you have a specific program/university in mind, then it is best plan your course selection around the requirements for that program, along with any pre-requisites you might need to take. The requirements and pre-requisites are almost always listed on each university’s website.

Do I have to earn all my transfer credits within 2 years before transferring before transferring in to year 3 of a particular program?

 

There is a common misconception that students have to complete their credits within a certain time frame, whether it be for transfer or for graduation. That is simply not true! While it is definitely possible to finish your transfer credits in 2 years in order to transfer in to year 3 of your chosen university, you can actually take as much time as you need. It all depends on what type of course load is right for you.

What is the difference between a full-time schedule and a part-time schedule?

 

A full time schedule is a course load of 3 or more courses in one semester. This will qualify you as a full-time student. Anything less than that qualifies as a part-time student.

What happens if the course I want to take is full? 

You can sign up for the waitlist through MyLION. If a spot in the class becomes available, you will automatically be enrolled.

Can I retake a course that I’ve passed but done poorly in? 

Per our school policy, students who pass a course are ineligible to take it again. This rule is firm and no exceptions will be made.

Can I take courses at another institution while studying at Corpus?

Yes, you can. You will require a letter of permission first however. You can request one through your MyLION account. It is highly advised to book an appointment with an academic advisor before you enrol in courses outside of Corpus Christi. They can assist you in managing your course selection and course load.

I am a student at another institution. Am I eligible to take courses at Corpus Christi College?

Yes, you are! You will be considered a visiting student here at Corpus Christi College. However, you will have to check with your program and ask them for a letter of permission in order to take courses at an institution outside of your own.  

If you have any questions with regards to a specific course you are interested in, please contact the professor. The Main Office will be able to put you in contact with the correct professor.

What happens if I fail a class?

If a student fails a class, it will be entered in to their transcript as a “Fail” and the student will not receive credit for that course. Their cumulative GPA will also be lowered, which puts the student at risk for Academic Probation. If you fail a course, you are eligible to take it again. If you are struggling academically, it is advised schedule an appointment with an academic advisor.

How does an online course work? 

An online course at Corpus Christi College is a full credit academic course that has no classroom component. The entirety of the course materials are distributed online by the professor and it is up to the student to complete the course work as planned by the professor. Communication with the professor will be done either during office hours, or online. There will be scheduled examinations that will happen on campus. It is advised that students taking an online course study on campus where there will be less distractions as well as access to peer support.

Donating publicly traded securities directly to Corpus Christi College - rather than donating the cash proceeds from their sale – may provide substantial tax savings. Corpus Christi College can accept both electronic and certificate shares, as well as gifts of publicly traded options.   In support of the expansion and/or improvement of the physical campus, major and capital gifts last for generations. Past gifts have enabled modest improvement of the main building, library, chapel, and technology. All of these factors help us attract and retain students as well as faculty. For the last 16 years, Corpus Christi delivers many of its programs out of St. Mark’s College, a building that dates back to 1958. Through thoughtful conversion of a limited footprint, three classrooms have now been converted to five classrooms. In order to continue to meet the needs of a growing student population, additional space is needed! 
  
  As with other buildings and schools within the Archdiocese of Vancouver, St. Mark’s College commissioned a Conceptual Seismic Upgrade Structural Report to determine structural capacity in the event of a major earthquake. The study reveals a $4million cost for the upgrade. A capital plan is underway to address the building and infrastructure requirements.

Areas of Need

Catholic Higher Education is a vital feature of the Church’s mission and life.

The Synod of the Archdiocese of Vancouver stressed the importance of developing Catholic higher education institutions to meet the pressing needs of churches and schools for ministerial and professional development. Post-secondary Catholic liberal arts education contributes invaluably to developing the leaders of tomorrow who are reflective, life-long learners, able to address professional, social and spiritual challenges of our world today. In contrast to Catholic schools and to public post-secondary institutions, Catholic post-secondary colleges in British Columbia do not receive any government funding. Therefore, in addition to revenues from tuition, the Colleges must rely upon the steady help of supporters and donors who contribute to the operations and capital development requirements.

Undergraduate Liberal Arts Education

Corpus Christi Catholic College was founded in 2000 as a society for advanced Catholic education. The College provides a liberal arts education where young people can undertake their first two years of university, exploring liberal arts subjects of English, Philosophy, History and Religious Studies, Business and other courses in a faith-based transferable college program. The College offers transfer courses under the auspices of the British Columbia Association of Academic Transfer (BCAAT). This enables Corpus Christi students to transfer freely to the university of their choice for the final years of their undergraduate degrees. Additionally, the BC Ministry of Advanced Education recently awarded Corpus Christi College the ability to offer an Associate of Arts degree. This exciting new two-year degree program option was launched in September 2011.

Corpus Christi is focused on students. To attract and support young people from all walks of life who will develop and thrive as part of the Corpus Christi community, the College needs funds to provide essential scholarships and bursaries. We are working on improving services to students on all fronts. These efforts include upgrading technology, classrooms, and access to student advisors and activities. Funding is also needed for full time faculty appointments to broaden the course offerings. A core group of highly qualified faculty will also help Corpus Christi attract some of the brightest young people as they graduate from BC’s high schools. The most immediate staffing needs for Corpus Christi College are a Dean of Liberal Arts, the full time faculty members in the five Liberal Arts core areas: Religious Studies, Philosophy, English, History, and one area of specialization, and some support personnel.

By engaging first class lecturers on a part-time basis, Corpus Christi continues to offer a fairly wide range of courses in:

Corpus Christi College invites and directs students to excel in all areas of intellectual growth, including academics, personal virtue and service to others. Campus Ministry

The Campus Ministry of the Colleges has operated out of St. Mark’s for many years, and is a dynamic, evangelistic, and pastoral presence to the wider Catholic and non-Catholic community of the University of B.C. The Campus Ministry offers many programs and services, including: celebration of Sunday and weekday Eucharist; celebration of Reconciliation and other Sacraments; prayer and worship events and devotions; spiritual and pastoral support, retreats, discussions, lectures and presentations on various topics and themes. The Campus Ministry also is home to several Catholic groups and organizations, including the Newman Club, Development and Peace, and a student Knights of Columbus council. All of these programs are in great need of support.

Our Five-Year Vision

IMPROVEMENT OF THE COLLEGES’ FACILITIES ON CAMPUS to ENHANCE FURTHER GROWTH

In addition to enhancing operations of the two Colleges and the Campus Ministry Program, the Catholic Colleges will soon require the first of a two-phase capital development plan. This phase will expand the campus facilities through construction of a building adjoining the existing campus building. These new facilities will: 

• enhance delivery of course and program offerings
  
• provide for student community building and activities
  
• provide facilities that enable the Colleges to host diocesan and community programs and events
  
• give a focus for Catholic intellectual life and activity
  

The first phase will feature a three-story building that will include Level I – Lecture Theatre, Common Student Life Center; Level II – two large classrooms, seminar/conference room, administration support; Level III – two large classrooms, seminar/conference room, roof terrace.

CONCLUSION

The Catholic Colleges of St. Mark’s and Corpus Christi have come a long way in establishing themselves as institutions of Catholic higher education in the Archdiocese of Vancouver and the province of British Columbia. Our success has been augmented by the extension of our geographical reach both locally – through programs such as “Running Start” in many of our Catholic high schools–and internationally–by including international students and service learning opportunities in Tanzania, Guatemala and Nicaragua. The growth and success of the Colleges are critical in the coming years. Strong Catholic faithbased educational support at the post-secondary level is needed more than ever as adults and our young people face social and educational environments that are characterized by increasing secularity. Small Campus Just Steps from UBC  

We offer an intimate, student-centered campus, just steps from UBC. Along with formal classrooms, study halls, a computer lab, and a full library, we have informal student spaces for study and socializing, including a café and an outdoor plaza. Students who choose to reside at UBC are eligible to apply for residence at nearby Carey Hall or St. Andrew's Hall. 
 
Corpus Christi College is located on the campus of Saint Mark’s College, which is officially affiliated with UBC. All of our full-time students are enrolled in a special course–focussing on research methods, study skills, academic writing, and more – offered by Saint Mark’s. This means our students are able to enjoy many of the services and amenities UBC has to offer, including membership in the Alma Mater Society (UBC Student Union), U-Pass, Health and Dental Insurance, access to UBC libraries, and more. Many of our students also supplement their Corpus Christi studies with UBC courses taken through Access Studies. It truly is the best of both worlds.

Our Instructors

Our Instructors Are Highly Qualified and Passionate about Teaching   

Our students take courses with instructors who are experts in their fields, many holding joint positions with Corpus Christi and UBC or SFU. Our instructors have chosen Corpus because they believe in our student-centered approach. We offer an intimate program emphasizing academic excellence and personalized attention, with class sizes averaging about 25 students.

Our Programs

Our Programs Are Accredited and Fully Transferable 

 Corpus Christi College offers first- and second-years university courses in Arts, Business, and Science. All of our courses are equivalent to those offered by other colleges and universities across Canada and the United States. Up to 60 credits taken at Corpus Christi can be directly transferred to most post-secondary institutions, and applied towards a future Bachelor’s degree at 4-year institution.  
 
Students typically study with us for one or two years. We have been given the authority to grant two-year Associate of Arts Degrees to eligible students, which looks great on a resume and gives students a higher chance of gaining acceptance at their university of choice to complete their Bachelor’s degree. Along with our rigorous academic programs, Corpus offers opportunities in community outreach, service learning, and leadership development. Within the College’s nurturing community, our students become leaders both in the classroom and in the world.

Our Students Have Exceptionally High Transfer Rates to UBC

We have exceptionally high rates of transfer to UBC and other leading universities and colleges in Canada and elsewhere. Most of our graduates go on to earn their Bachelor’s of Arts, Commerce, or Science degrees at institutions throughout the province, across the country, and around the world.  Some of our graduates have also pursued more specialized degrees in fields like Communication, Nursing, Law, Human Kinetics, and Fine Arts. Our courses transfer easily throughout North America.

Our awards recognize academic excellence, service, and need. Corpus Christi College offers a number of scholarships, bursaries and grants. Students are welcome to apply for more than one award. A separate application is required for each submission. Most awards are announced in the spring of each year.

English Language Admission Standards

English is the primary language of instruction at Corpus Christi College. All prospective students are required to demonstrate a minimum level of English before they’re admitted. Applicants can demonstrate their English-language proficiency in one of the following ways:

1. Complete three or more consecutive years of full-time education in English within Canada immediately prior to attending Corpus Christi.

2. Provide proof of a minimum grade of 67% in either: BC English Studies 12, BC English First Peoples 12, or an equivalent Canadian provincial exam. 

3. Achieve a minimum grade of 4 on Advanced Placement (AP) English Language & Composition or Literature & Composition.

4. Completion of International Baccalaureate Diploma Program including English A (HL/SL) or English Literature and Performance (HL) with a final grade of 3 or better.

5. Achieve a minimum score of 450 on the GED Language Arts Writing & Reading.

6. International students have the following options:     

• TOEFL Internet-Based Test: A minimum score of 75.
• IELTS: A minimum overall band test score of 6.0 (academic module only).
• PEARSON TEST OF ENGLISH(Academic): An minimum overall score of 55. 

 
7. A minimum overall and essay score of "55" on the Canadian Academic English Language Assessment (CAEL).    

8. Completion of a college-level writing or literature course that transfers to Corpus Christi College as a college-level English course.  

9. Completion of the Corpus Christi College English 099 course

We offer 3 terms of study: Fall, Winter and Summer. You can start your studies in any term.

Year-round studies can give you more flexibility in your busy schedule. If you take classes during the summer – onsite or online – you have the option of taking fewer classes during the fall and winter, or accelerating your academic path.

  • Corpus Christi College is a commuter campus and therefore does not provide residence to students.
    
  • The College recommends seeking housing at Carey Centre or at St. Andrew’s Hall, but we cannot guarantee our students housing at these residences.

No, you will not be able to pay a partial amount of your balance through My LION. When paying through My LION, you will need to pay your entire balance.

Are Corpus Christi College Courses transferable?

Yes, Corpus Christi courses are transferable. All Corpus Christi College courses are listed on the B.C. Council on Admissions and Transfer website that lists which schools receive Corpus Christi courses for transfer. Corpus Christi's courses are all designed to transfer to UBC and other major universities, but as is the case with all institutions in the province there are also a few courses which have not yet received credit at particular receiving institutions. You will know the transferability of a course before you register. You can check out the details on university transfer in BC at www.bctransferguide.ca.

What is Corpus Christi's connection to UBC?

Full-time Corpus Christi students can access many of the services and benefits UBC offers its students through our  affiliation agreement. Students receive UBC Library Cards, U-Pass Bus Passes and can participate in UBC intramurals, UBC clubs, and use UBC Student Services such as Student Health and Counseling.  

Some Corpus Christi students are also UBC students. Many Corpus Christi students enroll and take courses at UBC through Access Studies or as Visiting Students to UBC. Many UBC students also take courses at Corpus Christi to take advantage of our small class sizes and courses not available through UBC. Many of our instructors are also UBC instructors who have chosen to teach courses at Corpus Christi in addition to their regular UBC classes. These factors result in an easy transition from college life to the larger universities, especially UBC.

How are the courses different from those taught at other universities and colleges? 

Corpus Christi College is first and foremost a student-centered college where instructors understand the value of teaching in a smaller, seminar-style setting. Our class sizes average about 20 students, permitting the instructors to work more closely with every student. They are available to students outside of the classroom and encourage students to use their office hours. The personal attention students receive at Corpus Christi results in a greater understanding of course material and hence, better student performance.

Can I transfer from another post-secondary institution?

Applicants who have earned at least 24 transferable credits from other recognized post-secondary institutions will be considered transfer students; entrance GPA will be calculated solely on these transfer credits. Students with 23 or fewer credits will be evaluated for admission based on both high school and post-secondary transcripts.

Can student only transfer to UBC after leaving Corpus Christi?

No. In addition to UBC, our students have successfully transferred to SFU, McGill, Queen's, University of Toronto, University of Victoria, Emily Carr University, Bishop's University, Saint Francis Xavier, La Sorbonne (France), Osake University (Japan), and others.

Am I eligible for financial aid, awards and student loans? 

Corpus Christi has one of the most generous financial aid programs in the province. This year money will be given to students through scholarships, bursaries and work study opportunities. Detailed information on specific scholarships is available on our website. Students attending Corpus Christi College are also eligible for government and bank student loan programs.

Do you have to be Catholic or Christian to attend Corpus Christi College? 

No, students from various backgrounds attend Corpus Christi. Our Campus Life & Ministry Office provides opportunities for all students to take part in campus life. If you are interested in exploring your life as a Catholic or Christian, we are committed to supporting you as you develop and investigate your faith. Because of our dynamic program, most students will choose to take part in events that help them to celebrate their Christian faith and Catholicity.

Is religious education a requirement of the College? 

Corpus Christi College offers a strong foundation in the Liberal Arts, and part of the Arts and Humanities curriculum at any university is Religious Studies. We encourage students to learn more about religion, history, philosophy and literature. In Religious Studies we currently offer courses in Christian History, Islamic History and World Religions. They are not required courses, but are very popular with our students.
