Sara Farid is the Regional Coordinator for Western Canada for the Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace, also known as Caritas Canada. She is responsible for coordinating the In-Canada Programs (education, advocacy and fundraising) for the provinces of Alberta, British Columbia, North West Territories and the Yukon. Sara also supports Development and Peace’s Catholic School Programs, engaging Catholic school communities in practicing their faith, learning about Catholic Social Teaching, and engaging in charitable actions and international solidarity and social justice. Sara has been with Development and Peace for a little under 6 years.
Through Development and Peace, she has spent time with communities in Madagascar, Sierra Leone and Burkina Faso, and most recently the Philippines. These experiences has enabled her to appreciate, witness and speak to the realities lived by some of the most vulnerable and marginalized communities in those countries. It is her great pleasure to share those voices with people here in Canada, and to witness to the work of the Global Church in serving and advocating for the most poor and vulnerable in our human family.
Sara will be joining us as the keynote speaker at Corpus Christi College's social justice symposium, Voices of Hope. VoH is presented by students, for students, with projects, discussions, artwork focused on deepening understanding of social justice issues in our world.
