The Catholic Colleges at UBC need your strong support – now more than ever.

Funding Challenge

Unlike Colleges like Langara, and universities like UBC and SFU, Catholic Colleges are not eligible for provincial government funding in British Columbia. Elementary and secondary schools do receive partial funding, but Catholic higher education does not.

We count on the generosity of our sponsors and donors to make Catholic higher education in Vancouver not only a reality, but also accessible to as many students as possible.

We are committed to affordable and accessible post-secondary education and offer scholarships, bursaries, and grants to help ensure no deserving student will be turned away from pursuing their academic aspirations.

“From the moment he began his studies at Corpus Christi College, my son was met with enthusiasm, welcome and warmth. I believe that the smaller classes, the personalized attention from professors and academic advisors and access to the resources and amenities of the University of British Columbia are the key to enabling students to succeed.”

—Susana Metcalfe, parent of Corpus Christi alumnus who successfully transferred to UBC

Fundraising Priorities

Catholic/Christian Experience

A key priority is to integrate higher education with personal and faith development reflected in areas of academic formation, leadership development, and service to others. Our goal is to inspire our students to make a hopeful and constructive contribution that will make a difference in today’s world.

Academic Programs

A key priority is to develop reflective, lifelong learners by providing rigorous academic programing and solid intellectual formation. Our goal is to imbue our students with critical thinking skills guided by faith and morals so they are prepared to meet the challenges of their academic and professional lives.

Scholarships and Financial Aid

A key priority is to provide essential scholarships and bursaries to help us to attract some of the brightest young people as they graduate from BC’s high schools, and also ensure money doesn’t stand in the way of needy, deserving students from all walks of life.

Public Engagement and Outreach

A key priority is to foster encounter and dialogue with Catholics and non-Catholics alike on the UBC campus, in the Lower Mainland, and across the province, on the important issues and critical challenges of our time.

“It’s a pleasure for me to affirm once again my personal support and that of the Archdiocese to the great cause of Catholic higher education in our local Church. St. Mark’s College and Corpus Christi College, under the able and proven leadership of Dr. Peter Meehan, are essential not just to the well-being and vibrancy of the Catholic Church, but to the wider community as well.

Vancouver Catholics are extraordinarily generous people to whom has fallen the task of truly ‘building up the Church’ spiritually but also materially. This task continues. I hope that you will join me in ensuring that the Colleges will ‘be at the forefront of the Church’s dialogue with culture’ and the modern world.”

—J. Michael Miller, CSB, Archbishop of Vancouver
