Prayer: A Bridge to God

Your father is facing health issues, your friend is lost her faith, you are faced with financial challenges, the world is crumbling because people follow evil ways and reject what is true. What can you do?

Very often we face problems that seem too big for us and no matter how much we try, it seems we cannot solve them. This is the time when we need to turn to the God in intercessory prayer.

“To intercede means to send someone an angel” (Martin Luther)

When we say prayers of intercession, we are building bridges between God and the people for whom we pray.

As Abraham intervened by his prayer for the inhabitant of Sodom, as Jesus prayed for his disciples, so too Christians always pray for everyone – for people who are dear to their hearts, who may not be closed to them, and for their enemies.

The more we learn to pray, the more profoundly we realize that we have a tie to a spiritual family through which the power of prayer is made effective. (YouCat, 487)
